Chosen Solution I replaced both the battery and the lightning port connector and now the phone will not charge. It turned on and showed 1%. I then tried it with another battery and the original charging port. Nothing worked. The origional charging port worked, i just had to move the cable to a certain size. Do a thorough visual inspection, preferably with magnification, of the area surrounding the battery connector. There are several tiny SMD components just above the connector....

Chosen Solution I was trying my first RAM replacement, purchased the Philips #00 Screwdriver shown on the guide, and everything worked fine until one screw, which has now stripped to the point where it is not usable. Looking at the RAM guide, it is the second screw on the bottom row. Thanks in advance! Follow the advice of the links at the right under tags. Drilling or an easy out (reverse screw) would be basic DIY....

I held the power, home, and volume buttons to boot into Recovery Mode and it did. I chose to boot it up normally but then it froze on the Recovery Mode screen. When the battery was replaced the phone got hot when it was connected to a charger to charge. @ee_major you can only get files off your phone if you get your phone to start up. You cannot retrieve anything from a dead board since the memory is a soldered part of the motherboard and cannot simply be placed onto another board....
