My alternator bracket keeps breaking cause of the motor Mount so the serpentine belt keeps breaking I just replaced the alternator bracket and the belt not even a week ago I was just driving down the road and everything started to dim and shut off. So I pulled over and it died couldn’t start unless it was jumped and it only lasted maybe a half a mile. Does anyone know what is wrong?
If the belts aren’t lining up properly and were dealing with the motor that has the mount on the end that runs between the belts your probably looking at a broken motor mount . When the rubber in the mount breaks the engine can torque sideways causing the belts to rub on the motor mount bracket and wreck the belt . to check the motor mount try using a jack and lift the engine . There should only be a little lift before you actually lift the car . If the motor moves up a lot you need to replace the mount. If the motor mount move to much then you can end up hitting the power steering bracket or the alt brace .
Just fixed the same problem motor mount was bad I’ve replaced 4 brackets & a unknown number of belts over the last year I just replaced motor mount alternator & the belt. Hop this fixed the problem
