All of a sudden, my battery started to die really quickly. My battery used to last around 6-7 hours and now only lasts 2.5 hours on normal use. My Macbook is an year old. Apple Genius Guy says that there is liquid damage but my laptop is working just fine (other than the battery, of course). I even reset it. Still the battery life is the same 2.5 hours. Tried SMC and PRAM reset, no effect. I have attached coconutBattery’s screenshots.

Battery values are excellent, charging power seems to be flawless. I believe battery is innocent here and something is draining it beyond the acceptable..it might be a software or a hardware issue. To check what’s happening on software side, find activity monitor in utility folder inside applications folder. Launch it and select from menu to list “all processes” and see if there’s something using an unusual and unjustified amount of Cpu. Check what’s the average value of Cpu used during a normal session to see if anything is keeping it busy beyond the ordinary. If Cpu stays below 20% on average and battery gets drained at the speed you indicate something might be absorbing power on the hardware side.

As you can see by the pictures the battery is fairly degraded almost 30% less than normal also Is this battery aftermarket? I hope this can help Update (10/30/2018) OK, thanks thats what I needed to know did it start doing this after an update because this could be a software issue with mac OS and just an FYI apple will always say there is water damage because the sensors are set off even by a little bit of mist but you could try backing it up and resetting it
