I took it all apart to clean my fan and all its various vents out. It was a very loud system but I fixed that it’s quieter then it ever was. But my eject button isn’t working, everything was put back on the optical drive the way it’s supposed to. The drive was working flawlessly before but nothing now….I even had a game in there before I took it apart and it wouldn’t recognize there was a disk. I tried the manual eject and got the game out but still nothing for the eject button. Did I possibly break the optical ribbon or the power source? HELP PLEASE
There are several things that could have happened. The most likely cause of your problem given the symptoms you mentioned is that the wide ribbon cable that goes from the motherboard to the disc drive has been damaged and does not plug into one or both of the connectors like it should. Another possible problem is that the metal tab on the bottom plastic piece is not contacting the copped pad on the drive board for the disc drive. This is not as common of a problem but still something to check out. I hope this helps.
