I’m just wondering if I can use rubbing alcohol instead of isopropyl alcohol to clean out the circle pad. Can I clean it from the ‘outside’ or do I need to take the 3ds entirely apart?

Isopropyl Alcohol and Rubbing Alcohol are the same thing.You can’t clean the circle pad components from the inside.I would recommend replacing the entire joystick assembly.
