My 2012 laptop has a stuck Control key, although it isn’t really stuck. it functions normally but the computer thinks it’s always pressed. any way of fixing or deactivating it? I popped the key cover off and cleaned it with air and a small brush but that didn’t help. the little rubber thingy functions as it should. Never had any liquid or food dropped on it either.
Sometimes things break on their own, even on a 10/11 years old Mac. A keyboard replacement may solve your issue but at times even chips may go bad, a straight answer is just a guess in this case. I’m not 100% sure it may solve your problem, but have a look at Karabiner, it’s a KB remapping App and might help. It’s worth a try anyways..if that doesn’t help replacing keyboard or topcase would be the next least expensive option.
