I have an older macbook A1278 i purchased in 2009. I have never had a spill on my keyboard. Recently my spacebar and delete keys aren’t working. Has anyone else had this problem? If so can you give me some advice?
You can get a used keyboard as a replacement. They’re on ebay for cheap. I actually just changed mine, took me about 2 hours to get it all done. Used the teardown guide right here on ifixit.
Typically when keys stop working it is caused by some form of liquid. If there are keys that are not working then the top case would need to be replaced. I would suggest that you have a technician check the inside of your MacBook. The top case replacement is somewhat pricey for this model, between parts and labor you are looking at spending over $300 on average unless you know someone that can do it for you and charge you less.
