I got my laptop a bit wet today from the rain and when I brought it home nothing turned on. No fan, no hard drive, nothing at all. I tried the “take out battery and adapter and hold the power button for 30 secs” but that only made the power LED light come on and still nothing else. The battery light flashes orange sometimes then goes away when the battery is in and the power light stays on. When I first put the battery in the light was kinda white, then light purple and then it went to solid orange to flashing orange. Thank you all so much for the help. P.S. When I put everything in and the power light does come on, the power button is useless and will not turn off the laptop
Pull out the battery, open the laptop don’t try to dry it out tear the laptop down to the motherboard and look for burn spots clean the board in an ultra sonic cleaner with a distilled water and cleaning solution. if this is unavailable clean with a soft cloth and IS alcohol of at least 95 % clean the connections and clean the contact points of the battery. the sooner you do this the better chance you have of saving the computer. Drying out the computer only promotes corrosion which is the worst thing that can happen
Your next step would be… is to take out the battery, then place a towel of some sort between the Keyboard and Display, close it up and let it sit upside down for about a week, then try to turn it on. It will take about that long for the water to evaporate. The thing is, you tried to turn it on right away while it was presumably wet that MIGHT have shorted something already.
