Helo. When I turn on my Laptop it start to work because I see the lights on and the fan is working, and the hard drive too. But I don’t see nothing in the screen, only white screen, but no black. I took everything out to cleaned the fan, then I put thermal past on the CPU and Graphic. I turn on the Laptop and nothing happened. Also, I took the memories out and tested one by one, and nothing. I try to open the screen to check the Power inverter, bat, I read some articles about this Laptop, and I found that this Laptop doesn’t have power inverter. Now I have a big problem.

Just a shot in the dark, I don’t know PCs but on a Mac this would indicate a bad hard drive. Try disconnecting the hard drive and booting from your system installation DVD.

Hey Luis, I’m sorry you’re running into this issue with the display. The white/plaid screen could indicate a few different things. The most common issue is a loose video cable. The video cable can sometimes be pinched where it runs through the hinges and cause the connection to loosen. That cable may only need to be reseated. I would try that first. If the issue keeps occurring, the cable may need to be replaced. Here is your Maintenance and Service Guide. Display panel removal begins on page 70. The video cable is shown on page 71 as #1. Let me know if you have any questions :smileyhappy: I work for HP

The white screen means that your backlight is working. So it is not an issue. What you do not have is any data to your screen. Check the cable, the connector and start off by connecting an external monitor to your laptop. If that works you will know that the GPU and its circuitry is working.

Try turning your brightness all the way down

Have you tried connecting external monitor to make sure that your GPU is properly working. If the external monitor works fine then it means you may need to check LCD cables and jacks or you may need to replace the screen. Just before this you can try to boot your PC with windows CD to make sure that its not an OS problem.

I had the same issue for the last week with my HP Envy 17 (out of warranty for more than a year now): at random moments it started to flicker and at boot I also had a white screen for a minute… Just opened the laptop, pulled all connectors out of the motherboard and reattached them (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v13U5Bh0n… for my laptop, at 5:38 it’s the monitor connector), and now everything seems to be working again… You can try searching on youtube or google how to disassemble your type or laptop, but… If you’re not that handy or do not have IT knowledge, it’s better to let someone else do this, because you can easily break connectors on the motherboard that can result in a laptop you can’t fix any more!
