Hi there, I have searched Google far and wide for an answer to my peculiar iPhone death, but nobody seems to have experienced the same thing as I did so far so I’ll try to explain it in as much detail as I can. My iPhone recently malfunctioned and permanently shut down a few weeks ago. It began when my iPhone screen started appearing with horizontal lines flickering on the screen. The screen was still responsive to touch during this flickering, but shortly after that occurred, my iPhone would randomly restart itself 5 or 6 times before resuming normally for awhile before restarting this flickering and restarting cycle. This happened for a week or two before I was annoyed enough to take it to an Apple store for a diagnostics test. An employee ran the diagnostics test and said they couldn’t pinpoint the issue because it wasn’t a problem with the screen or battery, but they couldn’t offer any repair beyond that. After three weeks of this flickering nonsense, I was using my iPhone normally until it just died permanently. The iPhone’s pixels on the screen faded the same way that an old Nintendo Gameboy or Gameboy Color’s pixels would fade when you turned it off. Anyways, since then, I’ve tried plugging it in to a computer, but iTunes doesn’t recognize any device when I plug it in. I’ve tried plugging it in to a wall charger and received no response from the device. I’ve even taken it to a local iPhone repair shop who tried to replace the screen and battery to see if that was the problem, but they couldn’t seem to turn the iPhone on either. I’ve kept the iPhone in excellent condition and have never dropped or gotten it near water, so I’m starting to think this is a malfunction with a component within the iPhone. Searching Google, I’ve wondered that maybe it’s a problem with the logic board, but can’t be sure. Hoping someone has any ideas how I should go about fixing this phone. I should mention that I used to plug in this iPhone to a battery bank for extra juice frequently, but I’m not sure that would’ve affected anything other than the battery. So, that’s my dilemma. Should I order a logic board to try and repair this or do you think it could be something else?

Based on everything you have tried, it sounds like a logic board issue. Spontaneous failure of components can and does happen so even if you did everything right with the phone, it doesn’t mean it isn’t susceptible to failure. I would assume the issue is LCD Driver related seeing as how those were the first symptoms but by mentioning that you used an external power bank opens up the possibility that the problem is with the charge circuit. Replacing the logic board, while an interesting DIY approach, is much more expensive than having it repaired by an experienced micro-solderer. Most micro-soldering shops work on a no fix no fee basis so if they can’t find the problem, you can still go the logic board replacement route without having paid “twice”.
