If your screen is showing the charging logo it will not be fried. The first thing you need to do is replace the battery. If it’s still showing the same symptoms it would point to a damaged charging IC “Tristar or Tigris” from the excess voltage. This would be a routine repair for a reputable repairer.
If I understand correctly, you hooked your charger up to 8 volts to charge it? If that’s the case and you were using a cheap third party charger, odds are you fried the phone. Excess heat is an indication of a short circuit.
