iPod froze, ive restarted it multiple times by holding in the center and menu button, and installing the new software, ive let it die 4 times and charged it back to 100%, how do i get it to unfreeze?

Are you checking hold switch and doing steps below

  1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  2. Now press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, which may take about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step’'.

take it in to Apple…they may or may not charge you to fix it.

Where is an apple store at?

it’s a pretty common nano 4g problem - but they are only similar and there is no common answer to that. some can be fixed with scotch tape on the click wheel, others work when the click wheel is replaced (but not all), then a few work if the click wheel connector is cleaned and so on. i have one of those frozen nano 4g that won’t work with the “common tricks” - maybe i order a replacement part and try that. the “fun” part is, that the touch sensitivity is still there - if the iPod “sleeps” and you slightly toch it - the light goes on

haha yeaa, i think im just gonna go buy an iPod touch or something

correction.. i mean this step u have to do with your nano connected to PC then try the step.. and then try to restore the firmware from itunes

yes that is definitely right.. then will iPod auto reboot itunes will automatically detect it then it will show on itunes.. from there you can restore hope it work for those froze iPod.. and this step can be use on all iPod..

I have that problem with the 4g nano. I have replaced the click wheel but it does not working. I have test the click wheels (both of them new and old) on an other 4g nano and they are working. I can do hard reset with the click wheel. And I can open ipod up when press the buttons. But it cannot respond after the ipod turned up. I can not login the diag. menu!! Sorry for my english. Regards.

The wheel on my Nano doesn’t work. I’ve tried re-booting it and unlocking it. How much is apple going to charge me? Mike NYC Feb 2011

FFFFF. I don’t have an answer, just another question. I’m not sure if this the problem you all have been talking about, but my iPod, fourth generation, out of warranty(duh), refuses to work. The screen is frozen, but the music will play, it still responds to touch, I can put in/take off music, which means it also appears in itunes. I’ve restored the stupid thing, reset it manually (and after all that, it will NOT respond to being turned “off”). The screen mainly stays on the Apple Logo (because I’ve been resetting it), but once in a while, it will change to what the actual ipod is on (like I said, it still responds to touch), but when I try to do anything, it’s frozen again (but I can still use the music, provided I can even navigate thing blind). Once in blue moon, it actually WILL work, the screen, I mean, but that usually lasts 5 seconds before it freezes again. The HECK is going on here? And what should I do about it?

Your best choice would be to sell the 4g and get a mp4 player from archos or samsung or sony . They are a lot cheaper and you can do a lot more with them

i bought 2 of these nano ipod4th gen 8gb from ebay..both with track pad problems…..i got onto ebay and bought 2 new trackpad ribbons (they look like a very fine printrd ribbon circuit) took my ipod to bits(instruction video on you tube)fitted the new part and works great
