My 30GB video will turn on, and all my music shows up, and I can even play the songs that are on it through my computer with itunes, but when I choose a song when it’s not plugged into my PC, the play icon in the top left corner comes on but the track doesn’t play, it stays stuck at the very beginning of the track. I can even scroll through the track, but it never plays. I tried restoring the iPod to its original state using itunes, same problem, so i’m thinking it is a hardware issue. Any idea what might cause this?
Eric, the only time I have had problems with my iPods like that was a. a bad hard drive and b. a bad hard drive cable. Also make sure that your hold switch is working okay. Flip it back and forth a couple of times and see if it makes a difference. If everything else fails, open your iPod and make sure that all cables are seated properly and that you have no corrosion on your logic board. Good Luck.
