My laptop suddenly died for some odd reason while I am charging it. I tried to hook it up on the charger and the green light at the side lighted up but the opacity of the colour green was like 50% and not hundred like before. I tried turning it on but didn’t hear the chime nor the screen lighted up. What do you think is the cause of it?
Disconnect the mag-safe adapter. Use this guide and disconnect the battery from the logic board: MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2010 Battery Replacement Press and hold the power button for five seconds. Hook it back up and try it.
Hi, A dim green light on the charger can mean an issue with the charging port, PP3V42_G3H circuit, or an issue with the charging IC. Most likely caused by liquid damage, or if a 3rd party charger is used. Sometimes, simply reconnecting the battery will fix this. Try a genuine Apple charger (order from their website or store), also try cleaning the port in the Macbook, dirty contacts can cause this issues. If this doesn’t work, you will need this professionally diagnosed, and either the logic board repaired or replaced. You can try removing the bottom cover yourself to see if there is any liquid damage on the logic board, and cleaning it if there is.
