My LCD screen is black, but otherwise the camera works perfectly. I have replaced the LCD screen. All functions work except the display function - I have taken photos and videos without a problem, except I can’t see what I’m taking. I can’t view old photos either. With the SD in the computer I can see what I have taken and old photos. I don’t remember dropping it or causing it any unusual trauma.
Hi, Do the menu options appear OK on the LCD screen. If also not, with the camera turned on, try shining a torch at an angle close to the LCD screen to check if there is an image there or not. If there is, you have a backlight problem. As you have replaced the LCD screen, it is either a faulty backlight flex cable motherboard connection (or connector) (see small cable from LCD screen to motherboard, Step.8 of the ifixit Nikon Coolpix S8000 LCD Display Replacement guide or there is a problem with the backlight power supply from the motherboard.
