My mac book turns on but the screen is black does anyone know how to fix this
It is most likely your logic board, but you could try booting from an external source to check.
Have you checked that the brightness is turned up? I know that sounds really stupid and you probably tried it first thing, but I once called Applecare because my Macbook Pro was booting to a black screen and they just told me to turn up the brightness. I was a certainly embarrassed that I hadn’t thought to try it, but relieved that I didn’t need a big repair. :D
I know this post it old, but just to help anybody that has similiar issues. More often than not, the problem is the dc-in board not the logic board( alot cheaper to replace than a logic board). How you can tell is if some of the usb ports dont work( use a laser mouse so you can see the bottom of the mouse light up so you knows its working, or if it doesnt light up you know its not working) and if it boots fine to an external monitor.
