Hi all, I have a 2.4GHz MBP late 2008 model that will not turn on, no fan noise, so I am pretty sure that it is not a display issue. I have it connected to my power cord which is showing that the battery is charged (green light). The only suggestion I can find online is resetting the SMC, which did not work. Is there anyway that I can determine what piece of the hardware is causing the issue so that I can replace it myself? From a bit of research it sounds like it could be anything from the logic board to the charger connector but I have no way of working out which. Thanks!!
Thanks for the vote of confidence @gigabit87898 Hi Matt, Let’s try a couple of quick fixes first. With the battery removed and mag-safe disconnected, press and hold the power on button for 15 seconds. Reattach the mag-safe and see if it does anything. Next, try zapping the PRAM. Hold down the P R Command and option keys and hit the power, continue holding these keys down and wait for it to tone three times. Let me know your results.
