The optical drive of my iBook G4 ejects discs after inserting them. It can’t play discs.
This may help: ZAP the PRAM - hold down the option & apple keys also the P & R keys and restart. Continue hold the keys till you have heard three bongs. Test the drive again. If it doesn’t work I would replace it. Take the battery out see if there is a tag inside that tells us exactly which iBook you have. I will then be able to direct you to where to get a replacement drive and how to put it in.
Try cleaning the drive with an optical drive cleaning disk
