So, yesterday, I put my phone inside my bag with my stuffs and to my surprise, I left my perfume half open that caused it spill inside my bag and left my Alcatel pop c9 wet not just wet but the perfume got inside the LCD. I can really see liquid running through my screen and really after that, the screen won’t turn on. I tried charging it, yes the charging light is still working yet the screen doesn’t. What should I do?
@popthatc9 the very first thing you need to know is that rice does not work. It does not do anything. Rice has no reason for existence as a tool in electronic repair. Great food, horrible tool. It will not stop corrosion nor will it fix our phone! You will have to treat it the same way you would treat any other water damaged device. First off do not turn on, sync or otherwise use your phone. This could make a bad situation worse. After that I would disassemble it by following this guide to at least get to your motherboard. Disassemble your phone and take a careful and close look at all components and connectors. Look for corrosion, evaluate the pins in the connectors etc,. Take a look at all connectors as well as cable ends. You will have to remove all the EMI shields on your motherboard. Once you got the gross contamination cleaned, use 90%+ isopropyl alcohol and clean all of your phone parts with 90%+ isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush. For a proper cleaning, use this guide. It was written for an apple iPhone 3G but all the points are still pertinent to your phone as well. I can not stress the importance of a good cleaning enough, so do it over and over while replacing the alcohol after each cleaning. Do not use compressed air for the cleaning since that can drive liquid as well as corrosion particles into areas that will cause trouble later on. If you need to use water, use sterile water. Also, you do not need to leave it to dry for a day. Isopropyl alcohol in the higher concentration will evaporate quickly and dissipate the water. The importance here is the cleaning. After everything is properly cleaned, replace the battery and reassemble your phone. This is a must and not an option. It will fail if you do not take care of it now. The best way to clean it would of course be by using an professional ultrasonic cleaning. Keep in mind that and liquid damage is the hardest to troubleshoot and to repair. If you are lucky it is only your display that got damaged. Once your phone is reassembled and has a new battery, re-evaluate any damage. You cannot troubleshoot your phone until it is properly cleaned.
Shut it off and take the battery out if possible. Here are your options… -Is it still under any warranty? -If not you can try a screen replacement, and if that is not an option you’ll have to get a new phone.
Get a ziplock bag and put some uncooked rice along with your phone. Leave it for a day. It might still has some moisture inside.
