Help! My phone won’t turn on. The blue light is flashing intermittently but the screen is black. It won’t take calls. Tried to reset but no joy. It’s only 3 weeks old. Any ideas?

Hold volume down and the power button until the phone reboots.

Hold the volume down and power button together for a few seconds. Dont listen to anyone about damaged LCD, just needs a reboot

It is more than likely that the LCD behind is damaged in someway. Check for signs of cracks on the LCD (not the glass on top), also there could be a possibility the plug has come out, it seems to be very common in the S5 models, but not entirely sure if the S5 mini is the same or not. If you don’t see any cracks, or any physical damage to the phone i would suggest you try to take it back under warranty.

Hold the volume down and power button together for a few seconds is not working.

Pull out your battery . Look in the top right corner / small circle . There is a test strip there . If it has turned pink or red it has liquid damage . That is the answer I got when I called my trac fone tech person . Had it only 5 days . Could get a refund if I sent it back but its working for what I need it for .

I had and still have the same problem. Everything I know about this is that when you press the home or power button to wake it, it doesn’t turn on the screen. I could hear the sound when taking screenshots, also the sound when adjusting the volume rocker. When you hold the power button, you get the power options menu, by doing that, taking a screenshot and looking at the screenshot later, I could see the menu. That’s how I discovered the actual issue. You may think of how I could see the screenshot later: My phone (yours could be different) worked fine when in the shadow, inside the car but once I get outside, on the sun, the issue appears. I don’t know how this condition affects the screen. I’d rather stick to the restart solution.

internally cracked LCD.

I have the same problem. Brand new phone, no cracks, and it broke in the middle of the night while it was turned off and charging. Samsung is refusing to fix it under warranty. Any thoughts on how to deal with them?

I am having the same problem . why is it doing this

Try the following and see if it will turn on.

  1. Remove the battery.
  2. Press and hold the “Power” button for 20 seconds.
  3. Now put the battery back in.
  4. Plug it in to charge and allow it to fully charge before turning it on. If this doesn’t help, then test the charger cord to see if it is good. Either try your cord in another device, or try another devices cord on your device. Should that not be the problem, then check the battery to see if it needs replacing. NOTE: Yes, I know some phone batteries are not so easy to get to, on some devices. In such a case, make sure that your phone is not under warranty still before you try opening it up yourself. If it is under warranty, then contact the manufacturer first.

So, this would be the 3rd phone I have had this happen to. Note 5, LGV20 and now the Note 8. Each time it has happened in the middle of the night and I would miss all of my work alarms set for the morning. Same thing on each phone. Off/blinking blue light. I know/knew how to force reboot each phone, but now that I am seeing it for 3 phone I am wondering what could be the cause? The first time it happened I freaked out, replaced every cable/charger/power strip and placed in a completely different outlet. So, I am thinking it might be related a a certain app I commonly install on my phones? I forgot how to use logcat, but was wondering if I needed to activate logcat first before an issue occurs? Or can I run it now to get the recent log file?

I got my phone yesterday and put data on it and next morning it just turn off because I was putting my friend phone number in. And a blue light start flashing and i try to turn it on with volume and turn off button at the same time but it didn’t work

I have had this problem before with my Samsung Galaxy s5. I tried holding the volume and power buttons down to reset it, but it didn’t work. I just let the phone die and when I charged it back up, it worked again.

Turn on the power supply on the outlet

Kudakwashe, your lcd display is broken that’s why your screen doesn’t turn on. They only way is to get the screen replaced.
