My polaroid p50US2236A TV goes to set up and scan each time it’s switched on after completion it works fine.I’ve reset the tv, I’m thinking maybe a memory chip is failing but need some expertise help. Thanks in advance.

Hi @maxnfred , Does this occur when the TV is turned off and left in Standby mode or only when the power to the TV has been disconnected or turned off? As it is rescanning and working OK but losing the setup info, most likely there is a problem with the eeprom on the mainboard retaining the setup data. Without a schematic for the mainboard (I can’t find one online) it may be difficult to find the problem and if it is the eeprom, replacing it won’t be easy and it needs to have the correct firmware installed as well, (can’t find that either). An option to consider perhaps, if the price suits, is to replace the mainboard. (supplier example only). If you decide to do this, ensure that the mainboard is exactly the same as what you have as per the board ID number printed on board and any barcode type sticker attached to the board which also has information on it. Search online for Polaroid p50US2236A mainboard for other suppliers that may suit you better than the one I linked. The mainboard i.e. Vestel 17MB120 is a common board used by several manufacturers. What is different is the firmware loaded into the eeprom so that it will work with the other components for that particular TV. Usually this is detailed on the barcode sticker information on the board, if there is one. There may also be some slight modifications done to the board by the TV manufacturer as well.
