I just bought a PS 3, tested it out with a DVD but it will not read games, what is the problem?!
@ary14 you are not telling us what it does. From your short description I take it that your optical drive does not read any disk, Possibilities are your laser is either dirty or has failed. You could try a commercially available lens clean, i.e. Maxell makes a brushless / dry Blue-Ray/HD-DVD cleaner. Or you could try this. If none of that works, consider changing the laser assembly or the drive itself. Remember that you must replace the board on the new drive with the one from your old drive since they are paired with your console. Let us know if that is the issue with your PS3 or if there are any other issues.
DVD is irrelevant, try Blu-ray Discs first.
