So I have had an overheating problem when playing certain games for months. Anyway I have taken my console apart multiple times and cleaned the fan and heat sink properly because there was quite a bit of dust. NOW.. I turn my PS4 on and It stays on for roughly 25 seconds and shuts down. All thermal pads are still In place, the thermal paste is dry and next to nothing on the chip. Is this the reason for stopping it from working?

Thermal paste needs to be replaced if the heatsink was removed from the processor. Re-using the old thermal paste or no thermal paste is no good. Make sure the clamp is on the correct position and not upside down so that the correct amount of pressure is being applied with the heatsink and two screws put on the clamp.
