The right side usb port on my macbook pro isn’t working , not even a thumb drive is recognised , the left one though works fine. please help what can be the reason and possible parts that can be faulty.
Any liquid damage? Does the HDMI output or SD card readers work? The right side ports are on a separate I/O board that can be independently replaced. If the HDMI output or SD card reader works but not the USB port, you probably need to replace the entire I/O board: MacBook Pro 15" Retina Display Mid 2014 I/O Board Replacement and MacBook Pro 15" Retina (Late 2013-Mid 2014) Right I/O Board If none of the ports on the right side function you could try replacing the cable instead: MacBook Pro 15" Retina Display Mid 2014 IO Board Cable Replacement and MacBook Pro 15" Retina (Late 2013-Mid 2014) I/O Board Data Cable Replacing the cable is a bit of a cheaper repair so you could try it first, but if that doesn’t work then again you’ll need to replace that entire I/O board.
