I took a TV from my friend which is experiencing a power cycling problem. On initial bootup the TV screen will glitch and even shut down multiple times 7-10 over a period of 1-2 mins. I recorded the TV’s behaviour in this video: https://youtu.be/w8ihctIqUuc I’m not sure what could be causing this. Anyone have any insight? Update (02/02/2020)
I took the TV apart to look at the power board and couldnt find anything visibly wrong.
Hi, Is it actually powering off or is it that the backlights are just turning off because in your video it seems to come back on where it turned off rather than cycling back to the startup? Try the following: Turn off the TV and disconnect the power from the TV. Remove the back cover from the TV. Disconnect the cable that runs between the power board and the mainboard. Reconnect power to the TV and switch on the TV. The TV backlights should come on and stay on. There will be no picture as the mainboard is disconnected. If the backlights do not come on and stay on steady then check the voltage at the LED connector on the power board. If there is a high voltage reading (>90V DC) when the backlights are off then there is a problem between the power board and the LED strips or the LED strips themselves If there is no or low voltage when the backlights are off (<30V DC) then there is a power board problem
