Screen won’t turn on when I power my computer up

Hi, Have you tried increasing the brightness by pressing the Fn + F7 keys? Have you tried pressing the lid switch?

Try shining a torch at an angle to the screen to see if you can see the ‘Desktop’ image when you have turned the laptop on. You may have to manoeuvre it a bit to make sure whether there is an image or not. If you can see an image then the problem is with the ‘backlighting’. This may either be caused by a faulty lid switch, faulty cable between the motherboard and the LCD screen or a faulty backlighting power supply on the motherboard. If you cannot see an image at all, try connecting an external monitor and see what is shown. If there is a normal picture then the problem is either a faulty LCD cable or a faulty LCD screen.
