Hello. i have one major problem. I Got samsung smart tv which turns on if i plug it to the to the wall socket. It shows smart tv logo than sometimes displays source EXT.(but no number) and NO TIME INFORMATION but not every time. Beside that it shows energy gauge in the right bottom corner. From this point it’s stuck. No picture just that gauge and that sign, you cannot turn it off with remote or button on the tv. nothing works. Cannot open menu nothig. I allready tear it down and checked for voltages from psu. They are all present. Backlight (leds) are all ok. Can you please adwise me what could be wrong? In the past i repaired manny tv’s (bad capacitor blown controller chip on psu blown mos-fets… This one is a mystery for me. I’am affraid it is firmware or controller on main board or not :) Thank you for your time.

Hi @peeterr What is the model number of the TV? There should be a Standby voltage on the power board when the power is first connected and the TV should go into Standby mode and not turn on until it is told to do so by the remote control unit or the TV power button. Have you tried disconnecting the TV power button from the mainboard and check if the TV goes into Standby and doesn’t turn on when the power is first connected, just in case the power button is faulty? (also remove the batteries from the remote control as well in case it is a stuck remote button) If it goes into Standby mode OK and IF the IR receiver in the TV is NOT on the same board or cable as the TV power button then try turning on the TV using the remote. If the IR receiver is on the same board or cable as the power button, still disconnect it from the mainboard and check if the TV goes into Standby on power being first connected. If it still turns on then you have a mainboard problem.
