Can you help me with repair info re N3? Rain exposure resulted in black screen, otherwise phone seems to be working fine: powers on, blue/ green lights on screen work, Samsung sound on boot up, receives calls, can hear text msg alerts, can activate speaker phone (by blind touch), etc. I disassembled and cleaned mother board and connectors with isopropyl alcohol, screen still black. So I’m thinking of replacing it with: http://m.etradesupply.com/samsung-galaxy… Before I order I’d like to know whether there is any way of determining that it’s definitely the screen that needs replacing and not some other problem? Don’t want to buy a new screen if that’s not the problem. Also product description says “Notice: Please test the functionality of this item before installation.” How does one do this?

Yes all the time most of the functions can be ok and the screen black but still to be a mother board problem, but as long as you can blind touch on your screen seems the mother board to be fine and the lcd parts to be faulty. As Cody said the 100% sure is to test with another mother board, but i am very sure is the lcd in your case. “Please test the functionality of this item……….” means you need to try and plug the lcd on the logic board and see if the lcd is working properly without taking any plastic film away from the lcd or breaking any seal. If the lcd is not working you can send it back, but if the lcd is not working and you took plastic films out you can’t send it back.

There is a hour difference. I am in florida, usa. You can try and follow the teardown guide from ifixit. Is very good. After you take the logic board out try to put it in the new screen frame and just plug the cables, try to put the battery and se if it starts and if everything is ok. The new lcd has the mid frame installed? Or is just the lcd and you need to install it on the old frame?

hi, last night I developed similar problem with my SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 3 SM-N9005. All functions are working fine except that the screen display is dark. However, drop down menu works fine and even the double tapping main menu button at the bottom of the screen brings up the “talk microphone” display. I developed this problem last night once I plugged my phone charger into an already powered-on electrical outlet. This caused, first, a sudden restoring of my display to factory mode settings and then the screen went dark after a little while. No amount of attempts to recover it using SAMSUNG SMART SWITCH helped. And the SAMSUNG SIDE SYNC software is unable to connect so I could get the display on computer screen. Any help please? Kallum
