There are three microphones on the iPhone 6. There is one for phone calls/front camera videos, one for noise cancellation and one for the rear camera. I had very low sound on video recording. All other sound was fine. I inspected the microphone hole on the back near the rear camera with a jeweler’s loupe and it appeared to be ‘gummed’ up. I used a Q tip and liberal amounts of isopropyl alcohol to loosen the clog and then swab it out. The audio returned perfectly. I think some liquid like soda with sugar clogged the mic.
