I received an eyeclops bionicam that doesn’t seem to work. I would love a manual to assist with fixing the issue, how can I go about that?
Hi @lanabrown , You could try contacting the manufacturer and ask if a service manual or schematic diagram was available, even if you have to purchase it at a reasonable cost. I wouldn’t hold my breath on this one, but it never hurts to ask, the worst they can say is no. Without a schematic you’ll have to open it up to gain access to the motherboard/power board etc and then start to diagnose the problem as best you can. As you haven’t stated what is wrong with it, I can only suggest general diagnostic testing.
- Does it power on or give an indication of power being connected? If not then that is a good start. Hopefully once you have fixed the power problem the rest of the circuitry will be OK. Check that the power connections from the battery holder through whatever On/Off switch to the circuit board are good. With the batteries removed use a DMM’s Ohmmeter function to test continuity of both the +ve and -ve battery supply leads. (The batteries haven’t leaked have they and corroded the terminals making them high resistance for example?) If so with the batteries inserted, use a DMM’s Voltmeter function to measure the voltage level arriving at the board to ensure that it is the correct value.
- Once you have established that the power is reaching the board or why it hasn’t and have fixed that and it still doesn’t work it becomes a bit harder to find out what the problem is. Start looking for simple problems such as burnt out components, heat stressed components, broken connections, dry solder joints etc . Use a strong light and a magnifying glass when you do this to get a better view (especially dry solder joints). Hopefully it is a start.
