So i stupidly wiped my hard drive of everything. Now i get the flashing folder on start up and I’ve tried every control possible to get it to boot to disk utility, network install won’t load when i press N on start up the globe symbol flashed like 4 times then the ? folder will appear, Tried to boot off usb it can’t find the usb. Thought i may have damaged the HDD when erasing it so i bought an SSD. I formatted it to HFS+ on my windows computer so the iMac would recognise it but i’m getting the same results as before. I have literally tried everything, every command, every way to boot and still nothing. This apple is about to become a pear when i throw it out the window!
You’ll need to create Mac os installation media on a Flash drive to reinstall Mac os but that requires another mac in order to do so. https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT20137 Usually internet recovery should work from the following: To manually start up from macOS Recovery over the Internet, press and hold Option-Command-R or Shift-Option-Command-R at startup
