I have a Kenmore Elite fridge, model 74043 Recently got an error code “er rf” and the top part of the fridge would get warm, bottom compartments where you put fruits and veggies got frozen, freezer stayed the same Sears came out, said it was the motherboard, replaced it, within 2 hours code was back Sears came out again and this time said it was “the fan” Wanted to charge me $400 for parts and labor. Told them I’d do it myself They gave me the part number, I ordered it, this is where I need help…. Part number they gave me was EAU36179305. Some websites say it’s a damper motor, some say damper fan, some say evaporator motor, some say evaporator fan. Are they all the same? I took shelves out of freezer to replace fan/motor, and the one that’s there is different than the one I ordered. The one I ordered doesn’t fit. Is there another location? Maybe in the fridge section? Or behind the fridge? Or is that the only spot where fans are, and it’s a different fan because Sears gave me wrong part number? Please help
Hello Robert94544. The part you have #EAU36179305 is the correct motor. This is the evaporator fan motor in the fresh food section. The PCB isn’t getting proper signal back from the fan motor and will display the error code ER RF. Pull the back panel out and the motor is about eye level.
