I bought a new 2tb h.d. from ifixit to replace the recently deceased 250 gig one that had been supplied by apple in 2007; but when I booted the computer to load tiger, the disk was not recognized. It was as if it did not exist! A question posted here last February told a similar story; but no one had answered. Is it possible to find a way to format and use the new h.d.? I am now using my external h.d. to run tiger, hopefully as a temporary measure. Once the new h.d. is up and running, I shall re load leopard and snow leopard and be happy once again. chris
You need to format the drive before installing a system. Boot up from the system installation disk by holding down the “C” key. Go to the second screen, pull down menu, Utilities, Disk Utility. Select the drive on the left hand side and format it. Now install the system.
