Just tried changing the battery in my wife’s Samsung S5 - very simple to swap - but the new one won’t charge at all, won’t boot up even when plugged in, and just flashes empty battery symbol over and over. I put the old battery back in and it works as normal. Before I complain and send it back - Is the “new” battery just a total dud, or could there be some other problem I’ve not thought of?

Hi @rozedwards , The battery may have discharged below its’ low cutoff value (~2V)and has shutdown in self protect mode. How long did you try to charge it for? Leave it inserted and “on charge” for 3-4 hours to see if it kick starts itself back into life and starts to charge. Once it does start to charge let it fully charge before using it. It is does nothing after 3-4 hours of “charging”, take it back for a replacement as it is beyond recovery.
