I bought a new hard drive and inserted it into the harddrive slot. After restarting the drive is not recognized by disk utilities Update Got a replacement of the hard drive. The old one was a lemon. Now all things are functioning. Thank you again.
It’s possible the drive is not connecting. The rubber bushing or dampers on the sides can bunch up as the drive is slid toward the connector. Can you hear or feel the drive spin up? A sure fire way to tell if the drive is faulty would be to remove the top case and look. Or to remove the side pins from the drive and check that you can slide it onto the connector. If it mounts or shows up in Disk Utility after that you know where the problem lies (dampers). If this answer is acceptable please return and mark it Good Luck, N.
