New mac mini has announced without ODD today. (20th Jul.) Does this model can have two HDD, like server versions? I think it is impossible because if it is possible, there’s no advantage to buy server model. If I can add HDD to normal(non-server) version of new mac mini, is there any difference with server model? (for example, hardware raid controller? does server model has it?) Please, show me inside of new mac mini, I love ifixit!

The new Mac Mini supports two internal 2.5" SATA hard drives (Though the default configuration only comes with one) , like the older Mac mini server. It can be “built-to-order” with two hard drives, and I’m going to say with 99% certainty that a second hard drive should be easily installable. iFixit will probably do a teardown of it within the next few days, so everyone will know for sure then.

None of the new Mini’s have optical drives. The server version has 4 a core/8 thread i7 at a slower clock speed and does ship with 2 drives and has integrated graphics only. The standard Mini can be ordered with an additional SSD, has a 2 core / 4 thread i5 that can be upgraded to an i7 and has discrete graphics on the larger config. I think I remember seeing that the BTO iMac had an additional bracket for the SSD drive but the off the shelf version did not. We’ll have to wait to see if they did the same thing with the Mid-2011 Mini.
