I just reassembled my laptop, and I do not hear the apple “chime” upon start up. The computer does seem to be functioning normally, but I always heard the chime in previous macs I have owned. Am I being paranoid, or should I just ignore this? Thanks for any input.
See if it boots up, are you using the original keyboard, or the replacement one you mentioned in annother question? Try to put in the original keyboard if you haven’t already. Check your RAM, try to reseat it, since you could have knocked it out of place. Also try reseting the PMU, and the PRAM.
Check that your volume is not muted.
Thanks for all the help. The computer seems to be running fine. I played a few songs through itunes and they came through the computer speakers fine, but still no chime when I boot the computer. I am at a lost as to why this is happening. I am hoping someone with a little more experience can explain this to me. Again, thank you for all your help. Charl
