I recently replaced both my battery and trackpad as the trackpad was not working and the battery was getting swell. Take the battery back out and then adjust the clicker plate stop
It hits the switch on the backside of the trackpad which is the click action.
You also might have an issue with the trackpads placement within the uppercase. I recommend placing a few posit note sheets around the edge of the case pasting them on the edge with the free side outwards so you can remove them along all four sides this makes sure you have an even gap around.
Does it click with the battery removed? Swelling batteries prevent the trackpad’s operation. Take the battery out and try without it.
