I bought a phone that was water damaged. I tore it down and did the whole cleaning process on it. The phone boots up and I can hear sounds like Siri etc. I know the touch screen works because I was able to power it down. However I am getting a blank LCD screen. No signs of screen power at all. My question is, would replacing the LCD screen work or could I have a burnt out IC backlight. I don’t want spend a lot of money on an LCD screen if the IC backlight is ruined. Any ways to diagnose without taking the new LCD plunge?
Yes–backlight failure after water damage is very common. It’s not a DIY job, but it is repairable. I see this a few times a week
Put the lcd up to bright light if the backlight is blowen you should c a faint image of what’s in the screen.. Try a hard reset and make sure you have the lcd is seeded correctly aswel if this all fails you could always buy a smashed but still working screen on ebay dead cheap this way you will no if it’s worth to buy a new screen if the smashed 1 works
