Hello, I am working on a 2014 MacBook Air and I have a situation where: No lights are coming on chargerHold power, starts up, chimes, shows apple logo and powers offDisconnect battery, hold power button, fan comes on full speed and laptop boots up.Re-connect battery while on, indicates ’no battery available’.Reset SMC, no change. I am thinking the I/O board is bad and/or battery but shouldn’t the light on the charger come on regardless of the battery status? Any help here would be appreciated.
I replaced the I/O board today and this resolved the issue. Thank you!
This could very well be a battery issue. It’s unusual that there’s no light on the charger, but the first thing I would try is a new battery. Fans coming on at max speed is normal when the battery is disconnected due to lack of communication from battery sensors to the SMC.
