Samsung 40 inch LCD Television model LN - R 408 DX (slash) XAA Built in 2005. Bought used this summer 2017. Worked for a month, then front red LED light would blink 5X, and go out, no more picture. On these models, usually the condensers go bad and it’s an easy fix, they had a class action lawsuit regarding substandard condensers, but they all look fine, and the TV Repairman said they were good. He soldered in new NTC thermister, not the original model, but close. Worked for another month, then same problem. A company (PTS Electronics) will trouble shoot and repair my power supply board for $68 + $10 shipping. But before I throw good money after bad, does anyone have experience with this model? Thank you. Update (09/21/2017) I am not an expert on Ebay, but does a company like Electroparts Warehouse actually look for bids?
@dbk that is going to be a tough one because of the multiple recalls. Remember that even so the capacitors look good they can have failed. You would need a multimeter that test capacitance or an ESR meter (better so you do not have to remove the capacitors from the boards) to actually test the capacitors. I can not make out the connector on your power board so if you can take a couple more images and post those. That way you could at lest check the outputs etc. on the connectors. If you do not have the tools etc. to diagnose this then a replacement power supply might just be the answer. they are available for around $30USD at places like ebay.etc. NT8015 on your board does not look right. Looks like it got hot. Remove the board and take a look at the underside, check for burn marks.
