My Asus X550CA has no power. I removed the battery still no power and no lights. I changed the power adapter and still no power.
Try a hard reset. This is done by disconnecting everything connected to you laptop all power and all usb and cables. Then remove the battery and hold the power button on for 60 seconds or longer . This is to drain any residual energy from the laptop and for the mem to clear. Hope this helps
I Know how to solve that! Unscrew every single screw that you find from the bottom(remove the battery, then the cover that covers the HDD,then unscrew and remove the HDD)then with a knife detach the keyboard and the trackpad,(Don’t pull the keyboard to much because there are some connected cables)Detach all the cables, then find where the power button connects to the motherboard.Short all the pins of the port on the motherboard several times until you see lights(remove the battery but plug in the power otherwise it will not work)(To short pins use anything of metallic,it works even with a pen). IMPORTANT!!! If you’re not sure about how is this done go look a teardown video on youtube,so you can have an idea about how to get to the motherboard.
@antibiotic1000 Hi That shorting trick worked for me… A real miracle after I got desperate to power on my X550C laptop. So does it mean that the ribbon is bad or the button board? Also it seems that I have to do it every time or with power adapter will the button switch on the laptop? I did this with only battery because I left the power adapter at work. Thanks for your useful tip!
i’ve been experiencing the same problem. charging was fine but power button was totally dead. turned out the mobo - power button cable was loose. no issues since then.
Hi Dan The same has happened to me. The laptop crashed so the only way to shut down was to remove the battery pack. After that I reinstalled the battery but no power. Plugged in lower, no lights nothing. Nightmare. Have you been able to fix it? Thanks, Liam
Try disconnecting the video/display cable from the motherboard; then test to see if you can power the unit. May have a bad display.
My X550LC wont turn up but it shows the charging light .. Tried the 60 seconds battery out method but it did not work… Any suggestions on troubleshooting?
The same problem but i notice a swollen burnt 8 pin ic near the power jack but i cannot make out the number. Its not passing the voltage on.
