Received this device as part of a deal and it looks as if someone has already opened it up before. Once opened the first thing I noticed was visible burns in multiple. The lightning port cables onthe left side are burned, looks like a short. Antenna is significantly burned and a small component underneath it is also completely melted through, not sure what that piece is but it is connected to the underside of the logic board and looks like it is just a cable. The biggest of my concerns is at the highest point of the board there is a cluster of resistors which is burned, there should be five side by side, and one is gone. What steps should I take and in what order to repair this. Device has clean imei and lcd looks fine. I also noticed the front camera, and earpiece need replacement. All help is appreciated, my experience consists of screen and home button repairs.

This is what a phone looks like after someone puts it in the microwave after being dumb enough to follow Internet advice. Not repairable. If you wanted to waste time and money you could start with changing Tristar and Tigris chip and putting Board with known good battery, charge port and screen. Likely a waste of time. Jessa

@kjt930 first you have to clean it so you can get a better idea of what you are looking at. I also recommend that you add some images of the damage with your question. Use this guide for that. It will allow us to see what you see. To clean your board use this guide for the removal. After you have the logicboard out, you must remove all the EMI shields. If you do not, you won’t get your board properly cleaned and may miss further component damage. Then use this guide for the cleaning. It was written for a iPhone 3G but all the points made are still pertinent to your phone as well. Once you have all that check for further damage and you must consider replacing burnt components that are minuscule and require special tools and skills to do so. Of course you will also need a new battery besides all the parts we may identify once you post some images.

Either this thing got the chair with its owner or someone tried the microwave nonsense. With this amount of energy gone through the board, I have practically zero confidence you can find any salvageable parts, let alone reviving it.
