@refectio so im only after changing the pmic on this 5s, it was drawing amps from my bench power without the power button being pressed, so obviously the board was getting hot and i found that it was l17 in the process of removing it i knocked of l16, are these required to have the phone show any sign of power
Absolutely, these inductors are instrumental for the proper operation of the buck converters built inside the PMIC. Look up how Buck Converters work and you’ll see why (cool…electromagnetism!). Now, an inductor is just a coil of wire so if it is getting hot, it could be because it is damaged internally but it is also possible if the downstream subsystem it is powering is simply drawing too much current. You’ll have to troubleshoot the those two rails a little more to see what’s going on. The advantage of having the coils removed is that now you can see if there is a short on the PMIC side or downstream as it cuts the circuit.
