Chosen Solution
So I haven’t used my SNES in awhile. Decided to hook it up and I basically get no signal. I’ll try multiple games and the same thing happens with every one — It’s usually a black screen with an intermittent interference type sound accompanied by a very distorted picture of the game playing. I tried disassembling the system and ran into an issue where the pin connector won’t come off. Most models I’ve seen online seem to have silver screw plates and mine has black ones. I bought the unit off ebay so I don’t know if the previous owner put in an aftermarket pin connector or something. I cleaned the slot with alcohol and a credit card. Still doesn’t work. Hey, Chase. In my experience SNES systems with a no signal issue have problems with the ICs on the board. These can only be sourced from a working SNES making them cost-prohibitive to replace. I have had luck in the past just by cleaning the entire system, especially the pins you’re talking about. I use a toothbrush and 99% Isopropyl Alcohol. If the connector pins are corroded that might be what’s making it difficult to remove. Many SNES systems that worked the day they were put into storage stop working when they get dirty. They collect lots of dust. Hopefully a deep cleaning will help, because the alternative is most often the ICs. Good luck!
