Today a friend gave me his old iPhone 6 after saying that the speaker doesn’t work anymore. Having worked on them for a while now and having a couple extra speakers laying around I decided to try replacing the speaker. I replaced the speaker but still no sound. I then tried the microphone and it is grayed out too. Then I tried making a call and the earpiece is not working either. The charging port and vibration functions work along with the cellular antenna so I’m not sure if it would be a charging headphone port problem. I can’t reset in DFU until I get home later today but tried complete resets and no luck. Any ideas would be appreciated

I just completed a repair recently with the exact same issues and had to reball the Audio IC and all worked fine after. Not sure of the history of that phone but with all things related to audio and different parts, that would be my best guess.

To find out if there’s an issue with the microphone on your device—and not your cellular connection or the app that you’re using—test each microphone. To test the microphone of your iPhone, open Voice Memos and tap the record icon. Then speak into the microphone and tap the play icon to play back the recording. You should be able to hear your voice clearly. If your voice sounds faint when you’re using the speakerphone on a phone call, make sure that your iPhone receiver isn’t blocked or covered. If audio from video recordings sounds faint, or Siri can’t hear you, make sure that the microphone near the iSight camera—on the top, back corner of your iPhone—and the receiver isn’t blocked or covered.
