Hi all, Wine spill accident involving small children! I tried to pour as much out before putting it in a dry rice ‘bath’. Left it for a day and managed to get it to boot and load (with a few grains of rice getting shredded in a fan), the keyboard and track pad where unresponsive, with a ’no keyboard’ message displayed, but I managed to use USB substitutes to log on and get a time machine backup. Keyboard and trackpad came back to life a couple of days later. But the whole time the fan was running full whack. So I decided to reset the SMC - and now it won’t boot at all!! So the question is what now? I’ve tried the SMC reset again but still nothing, MagSafe is green, is it worth opening it up and cleaning per the liquid damage guide on the site?
@bigduk ,Simon, Quit charging/powering on computer until you have treated for liquid damage as instructed in the guide below to prevent further damage. Find links below for Techniques for generalized water damage troubleshooting and recovery and link for dismantling your device to clean of liquid damage/corrosion. Good luck.
