Hi there I got an iPhone 4 that wont charge the battery. First I thought its the battery but after replacing it it is still not charging. The battery percentage stays at the same level after longer time connected to a charger and the phone gets really hot. More on the Logic Board side of it. Is there a problem with the power supply unit on the board? Please any help. Thanks
chris, not quite sure where /what gets hot, but it is possible that it is the power management IC that is getting hot. Check the USB power fuses as well as check the USB Power IC and see if it looks charred.burned etc. You also want to make sure that your dock connector does not have any broken, bend or corroded pins. Hope this helps, good luck.
Update nothing looks burnt or charred. The area where it is getting hot is above the dock terminal around at the height of the screw with the water indicator under the metal cover
Sounds as though you either got a defective replacement battery or the dock connector needs to be replaced.
