Hello, Recently had an iPad pro 12.9 in for repair. Device is dead customer explained before the device was dead it was stuck at one percent showing charging but not increasing in charge. Device was completely un-tampered with so that ruled out any issues during a previous repair. We have tried all the easy options (battery charge port) still no luck! Today we set about replacing the charge IC (something we do commonly) but still no Joy device powered back up at 1% but still wont charge! Very frustrating!!! Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

If you replaced Tristar and are confident that it was a successful replacement (and a good part!), then the other possibility is the PMIC and associated circuit that has to drive the current. Unfortunately, there is no schematic available so it’s hard for me to reference anything for you. You will either have to probe until you find it (check the coils to see if they are solidly anchored) or outsource it to someone who already has a lot of experience on those devices.

This may sound too simple, but it worked. I have an ipad 12.9 gen 3. It refused to start and would not charge. If I plugged in a charger, the screen would display a battery with one thin red line. No matter how longer I left the unit on the charger, there was no joy. The local Apple store declared it dead and wouldn’t touch it. Then I took it to a local UbreakIfix and they suggested replacing the battery, They discovered, however, parts for a third generation ipads were impossible to get. Yet, when I went to pick up the unit, they had it working. How? They used a 24 Watt charger (Samsung) to wake the battery up. The battery had been left to totally discharge a few times. Apparently, the charging circuit will not charge a fully depleted battery. This answer may not work for everyone, but it worked for me.

We had the same issue and tried to repair it ourselves…Does anyone know where I can get a 1st Generation iPad pro 12.9 A1652 WiFi and Cellular logic board?

Used a non-apple charger after waiting overnight on its apple branded one unsuccessfully, Within a minute the apple logo popped up and it booted. Still 1% charge, but began charging, Had same issue as Brian above - thin red charge indication on battery logo, and no results with apple charger,
