I have LG LMX28988ST that started to not makinng ice first and now fridge and freezer not working. I have lights and disply is working and there is sound when the door is open. The repair man came and afrer looking at it for 3 minutes declare main control board to be replaced for $650. I’m not sure that he iscorrect. Any asvice?
Val Janskiev, when it stopped cooling did you notice frost on the back wall of freezer? Was there water collecting under the veggie chrispers in fresh food section? I need you to check a few things. There are 2 panels on the back. Take both off. Have it plugged in and running. The smaller panel is the control board. Do you see a little green light blinking? If so how many blinks then pause. In the other panel is the fan blowing? The big round thing is compressor, is it hot to touch? Are the coils dirty? Unplug refer and vacuum or use a coil brush to clean the coils. Let me know what you found.
